Going back as far back as I can remember, I have always had a love for the arts and anything paper. I was that kid at the corner selling my creations out of my lemonade stand. (My best seller, a hand drawn pattern on a church donation envelope for ten cents).
After getting my bachelor of arts in graphic design, I landed my first job as a typesetter for a greeting card company. Almost fifteen years later, I am a small business owner freelancing my own designs and illustrations for international stationery and home decor clients. I love bright colors, detailed patterns and whimsical characters. I truly adore my job and I am always looking for ways to expand my creativity.
As the owner of Limetree Paper Company, I’m extremely proud to celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2015. While I have some long-standing clients that keep me busy almost full time, I fill in the gaps by submitting designs to online stationery companies and doing freelance work for local clients. Over the years, I’ve done everything from brochures to business cards to hand sewn puppets, yes… puppets. I like that no day is the same and each project is different. It definitely keeps me on my toes.
A few years ago we purchased a century home in the small town of Ilderton, in Ontario, Canada. The location, large property and detached commercial space were the main selling features for us. In the early twentieth century, the property was home to the local horse veterinarian. Many of the original features of the barn have been incorporated into my office space including the stall doors and hardware. The outdoor patio offers great views of grazing horses.. It’s a wonderful spot for sketching.
The house is still under renovation. Our 5 year renovation plan is fast becoming a 10 year plan as my husband and I are learning take what life throws at us each day. Two little ones keep us busy! I am so happy to do what I love and make it work with our lifestyle.
